Zuula (Emma Jackson) is no stranger to the music scene, being a party goer and DJ for many years as DJ Chernobyl. We fast forward to 2021 and we now have Zuula, a great addition to the ever growing Bass scene here in Australia and she is already making waves with her recent remix of the classic tune “Holdin On” by Flume. The sky is the limit for this not so new comer and we are very excited to see what she does in the future.
Hey Zuula thanks for having a chat
Hey! Thanks so much for having me.
Tell us a little about the Zuula project and what we can expect from it in the future?
The Zuula project is very new, I recently rebranded so I’m still trying to figure it all out as I go along but my main goal right now is to just release music somewhat consistently haha
How did you come up with the name Zuula?
It’s actually derived from one of my favourite TV shows- Avatar the last air bender. One of the Characters is named Azula and she’s such a badass so I tried to base it around that. Originally it was going to be Ezula but I eventually decided that I liked just Zuula better and went with that.
Why Bass Music? Wheres your passion come from?
I couldn’t even tell you where it started. I’ve loved a lot of forms of Edm for such a long time but bass music in particular has grown on me over the last maybe 4/5 years or so. I just really enjoy the crazy sounds and uniqueness that stems from bass music
Who’s your inspiration?
This is kind of a hard question because my taste constantly changes as well as my inspiration, but at the moment I would have to say Calcium & aweminus just blow me away every time they release something!
What’s been the hardest part in your musical journey?
Starting to make music. Making the time to sit down and actually develop the skill. Is definitely one of the hardest things I’ve had to learn and I know I still have so much more to go!
What do you have to say to your ever growing fanbase?
Would love to say a massive thank you to everyone sticking with me through this journey! I’m excited to see where it goes!
And to the people who aren’t following you what do you have to say to them?
I guess I just hope that my music will speak for itself and connect with more people in the future 🙂
